Sachtler aktiv10T & flowtech 100 Tripod System
Fast to level. Rock solid. Built for the long days and unpredictable terrain of Melbourne productions.
When we say “we move fast,” we mean it — and our Sachtler aktiv10T + flowtech 100 combo is a big part of that. Whether we’re chasing morning light on a rural documentary shoot or resetting setups on a corporate b-roll day in the CBD, this tripod system helps us stay agile without compromising on camera stability.
We use the aktiv10T fluid head on everything from Canon C300s to RED builds — and thanks to its SpeedLevel tech, we can swap it from sticks to slider in seconds. The flowtech 100 legs are equally impressive, with carbon fibre speed locks at the top, so we’re not bending over all day just to tweak height. Paired with a mid-level spreader, it holds strong on stairs, slopes, or slippery tiles.
Why we love it:
• SpeedLevel = game changer
No more spinning tie-downs. Just click, level, and shoot. It’s the fastest leveling system we’ve used — and that time adds up across a day.
• Touch & Go plate = repeat setups without fuss
We often jump between slider, sticks and van-based tripods. The Touch & Go plate makes that seamless.
• Built for Melbourne’s uneven locations
With flowtech’s mid-spreader and built-in levelling leg locks, we’ve shot on rocks, laneways, carpeted boardrooms, you name it.
• Rated for real rigs
Handles payloads up to 16kg on the head and 30kg on the legs — which means cinema zooms, V-lock power setups, and accessories are no problem.
• Rotating carry handle
Yep, it’s the little things. The rotating handle lets us go flat for low angle shots without removing anything.
Where we use it:
• Interviews with long lenses (it’s rock solid at max height)
• Branded documentaries on the move (fast setup, easy carry)
• Corporate video production with high-spec camera packages
• Studio and remote shoots that need reliable low-mode capability
TL;DR:
This Sachtler aktiv10T + flowtech 100 system is the workhorse of our camera department. Fast to set up, rock solid under pressure, and perfectly suited to the wide range of environments we shoot in across Melbourne and beyond. Like most of our kit, it’s not rented — we own it, know it, and trust it to get the shot.
