Zeller Rathdowne Village
Short Documentary
Short Melbourne Suburb Documentary
Zeller came to us with an unusual brief — instead of a traditional brand video promoting their payment terminals, they wanted a documentary that let the people and stories of Rathdowne Village in Melbourne’s inner north speak for themselves. The brand would be felt through presence, not promotion.
Our Approach
We spent time in the village meeting shop owners, regulars, and the community members who give Rathdowne Village its character. Josh directed intimate, conversational interviews that drew out genuine stories — the kind of moments you simply cannot script. Daniel captured the streetscape, the light through the plane trees, and the daily rhythms of the village with a cinematic documentary eye, creating footage that felt true to the location rather than staged for a camera.
The Result
A short documentary that works as both a piece of branded content and a genuine portrait of a Melbourne community. Real people and their stories hero over traditional brand messaging, with Zeller’s presence woven through naturally. The film’s success led directly to Zeller commissioning a second documentary — this time in Inglewood, regional Victoria.
