Daniel Wieckmann is an award-winning Director of Photography and Editor known for his cinematic eye, technical precision, and deep storytelling instincts. After graduating with distinction from RMIT’s Bachelor of Communications in 2011, Daniel founded Kintaro Studios—a boutique production house that delivered high-end content for brands including Rapha, 2XU, IBM, Dulux, Ogilvy, World Vision, Thankyou, and Ford.

From 2011 to 2022, Kintaro Studios became known for its ability to deliver beautiful, story-led work across all stages of production. As a member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS), Daniel has been recognised with multiple ACS awards, including a Silver for PERSPECTIVES (2018) and a Gold for CHANGE MAKERS (2021). His editorial work on the critically acclaimed documentary FREEMAN (2020) earned an AACTA nomination for Best Editing in a Television Documentary and was the most-watched documentary on Australian television that year.

In 2023, Daniel played a key creative role on THE GIANTS, working as Editor, Second Unit Cinematographer, Animator, and Assistant Director. The film enjoyed a 14-week national cinema run, premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival, and won multiple awards including AACTA Best Cinematography, AIDC Best Feature Doc, BANFF Best Film, and the SWIFF Audience Award.

Daniel is also a passionate mentor and educator, having led the ‘Video Project’ unit at Swinburne University, supporting over 60 students through the creation of their final capstone documentaries.
